Description

This galaxy has 10 million stars. Please do not try counting them, it would take years. Those stars are contained in a 19.4 megabyte, 13500 by 13500 pixel image. This is one of the largest images you are allowed to upload to deviantart. However, this galaxy is tiny. 10 million stars is NOTHING. Plus, you'd have to download the image, because the preview is the largest size you're getting without doing that.

Have you ever heard of the Triangulum galaxy? If you haven't, that should be a good indicator of its tininess- and if you have, you likely know the facts. That galaxy has 40 BILLION stars. Compare to this galaxy: 10 million versus... 40000 million. And this is one of the largest things you can upload to Deviantart, and it takes up 20 megabytes. For a 1 million star galaxy, I need an image the size of the preview of this image- 1600 by 1600 pixels- and that image takes up .7 megabytes. So imagine multiplying this image by ten in that way... 300 megabytes for 100 million and 150000 by 150000 pixels- and that's if I'm lucky. Then, another ten. 4 gigabytes for 1 billion, around 1 million by 1 million pixels. Then, 50 gb for 10 billion for 10 by 10 million pixels. Then... 400 gb for 10 billion, and about 100 mil by 100 mil pixels. FINALLY, 1.3 terabytes for 40 billion, and about 1 bil by 1 bil pixels. Maybe with a quantum supercomputer or one running with carbon nanotubes, but in a reasonable amount of time on a silicon computer? Nope.

The Milky Way might have more than 400 billion stars.
